The Land of Fiddleheads & Fairies – nah, no fairies BUT definitely fiddleheads! I can’t help but stare in awe. Every year around the same time (a little late this season) I hike the Ancient Forest, the world’s only inland temperate rainforest, just to visit the fiddleheads. They’re EVERYWHERE. There’s a part of me that wants to just drop and lie amongst them staring up at the sky. However, in preservation & out of respect for the signs stating “please, stay on the trail”, I gladly withheld my temptations. But SO cool, right!? Not to mention the cascading waterfall just around the bend. AND the views – stunning! Insert small moss covered cottage…maybe a hammock, & I’m all set to move in (for life).
Today, I’m taking a break from posting food to appreciate where food comes from. In this particular case, it’s au naturel…and totally wild. I’ve been aching to get out more to explore, especially now that spring is here and the forests are flourishing with life. Unfortunately, my legs are still on the mend with hopes of a (more) speedy recovery – couldn’t be soon enough.
Fiddleheads are on the menu later this week – simply toss in a little sea salt + pepper, fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, & grape seep oil…and lightly pan fry.
