Gummy Bears *PlantBased

Gummy Bears *PlantBased…they’re nothing new – BUT the flavours sure are!! I took my Gummy Bear making experience as an opportunity to play around with some of my favourite flavours: TurmericGinger & Coconut, BeetRoot, AND Tropical VitaMatcha (added vitamins). Yeah I did! Rather than loading them with refined sugar and gelatine, they’re packing their natural flavours, colours, sugars (some help from pure maple syrup), & agar-agar. These little guys are more like a “Turkish delight” texture but still as FUN. They also happen to be super easy to make!

*I ordered my silicone Gummy Bear molds with a dropper from Amazon.ca.

Ingredients
TurmericGinger & Coconut
  • 1 cup organic unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp fresh turmeric, grated
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1&1/2 tbsp agar-agar powder
Tropical VitaMatcha
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tea bag Tropical Green *I used MightyLeaf
  • 1 tbsp organic (raw) matcha powder
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1&1/2 tbsp agar-agar powder
BeetRoot

  • 1 scoop vitamin powder *I used Subi SuperFoods-Raw
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1&1/2 tbsp agar-agar powder
Instructions
TurmericGinger & Coconut
  1. Combine the coconut milk, ginger, turmeric, and maple syrup into a pot. Heat over med/low. Stirring often, bring to a boil and then turn to low. While stirring, slowly add the agar powder. Turnoff heat and immediately begin syphoning the liquid mixture into the bear molds. The mixture will set quickly so that's why you'll have to act fast. May want to practice with the dropper:) Once all liquid has been placed in the molds, place the molds into the fridge for at least 15mins. Pop the bears out and they're ready to be served!
Tropical VitaMatcha
  1. In a pot, bring the water to a boil. Turn to low. Add the tea bag and steep for 3mins. String out the tea bag over the pot and remove. Add the matcha powder and maple syrup. Stir well. While stirring, slowly add the agar powder. Turnoff heat and immediately begin syphoning the liquid mixture into the bear molds. The mixture will set quickly so that's why you'll have to act fast. Once all liquid has been placed in the molds, place the molds into the fridge for at least 15mins. Pop the bears out and they're ready to be served!

BeetRoot
  1. In a pot, bring the beet juice to a boil. Turn to low. Add the vita-mix and maple syrup.

Recipe Notes

~You'll need silicone Gummy Bear mold(s) & at least 1 dropper - I ordered mine from Amazon.ca. For ease of transfer, place the molds onto a baking sheet prior to filling.

~With all those lovely natural ingredients, I stored my Gummy Bears in an airtight container in the fridge - keeps things fresh!

~I would not double the batch as the agar-agar will begin setting before all the liquid is used up.

~If you have a spare pair of latex/plastic gloves lying around, put them on when working with fresh turmeric - makes cleanup SO much easier.
